Hi everyone! In talking with several of the half marathoners during the weekend runs I've noticed some of them say that they're "cutting their runs short" of the whole distance for that weekend.
For you guys who are running a half instead of a whole marathon - please don't ever feel you have to push to longer distances! If you're new to half marathons then you really don't need to ever go farther than 10 miles in your prep for your half - and that won't be until about 3 weeks before your half marathon. If you've run several halfs before and want to try in improve your time, then going up to about 14 miles in prep is good.
So, don't feel bad if our weekly runs are 8, 10, 12 or more miles and you don't want to go that whole distance. It is absolutely FINE to cut it down to a 6, 8, or 10 or whatnot - in fact, it's probably the smartest thing to do.
